AUDACITY 24 OCTOBER 2009

A landmark event, to coincide with Black History events and festivities across
Scotland is being held at the Gallery of Modern Art in Glasgow.

Audacity is a day long event which will bring together artists, activists, cultural
producers and others within the voluntary sector to create a discussion, show
films and hear readings. It will provide a unique opportunity for national
dialogue across a range of themes and issues.

The day will include an international line-up of participants including Kortney
Ryan Zeigler, the African- American film maker of Still Black: Portraits of Black
Transmen and Sam Rankin from the Equality Network based in Edinburgh.
Joining them are Jane Standing (Kairos in Soho), Ajamu X, the internationally
acclaimed photographic artist and founder of rukus! Federation and poet and
writer, Rommi Smith.

The day also includes the Scottish premier of In This Our Lives – The
Reunion by Topher Campbell and a screening of Nina’s Heavenly Delights by
Pratiba Parmer. A guided tour of the sh[OUT] exhibition with curator Sean
McGlashan is also included.

Ajamu X who has organised Audacity said: “This is a wonderful opportunity to
bring together a range of voices from within the black, Asian, minority ethnic
LGBT community from Scotland and England. Far too often we have been
spoken about, but rarely heard”.

Audacity is open to all sections of the community. Seating is limited, so please
come early.
